Reporting & Troubleshooting

Course IDs, partial credit, and where a failed submission shows up.

What each credit needs

On a credit with a CE Broker accreditation attached:

  • CE Broker Profession — the profession code this credit is submitted under
  • CE Broker Course ID — your CE Broker Course Tracking number. Enter only the digits after the 20- prefix
  • Partial Credit — off for ordinary credits; see below

One course ID per profession, per course

A CE Broker Course ID has to be unique within a course for each professional type. If two credits in the same course report the same course ID, board, state, and profession, they'd submit as duplicates to CE Broker — so the credit form flags it while you're building rather than letting it fail at submission.

If what you actually want is several credits adding up to one submission, that's what partial credit is for.

Partial credit and grouped hours

Some boards want a completion broken out by subject rather than reported as a single total. Mark those credits Partial Credit and give each one a CE Broker Subject. A partial credit isn't submitted on its own — it reports through a Grouped-Hours credit that lists the partials as its dependencies, and the group's hours are summed when the learner claims.

That structure lets a learner claim once while the board receives the subject-level breakdown it asks for. Most providers report the full credit amount and never need it — leave Partial Credit off unless your board specifies otherwise.

Where to set the dependency

Grouped-Hours is one of the options in Credit Dependency Mode, at the bottom of a credit's configuration. You can also set a minimum number of hours that must be selected before any hours are awarded.

Where reporting errors show up

Two places, deliberately:

  1. The learner sees the error on their final completion step, with detail about what went wrong. Learners care about their own credit and will tell you immediately, rather than the failure sitting unnoticed in a log.
  2. You see it in the completions report under reporting history, which lists every submitted line item with its errors, filterable by date and by which accreditation or reporting agency it went to.

Since license numbers are validated back at registration, most of what reaches this stage is a configuration question — a course ID, profession code, or board that needs a second look — rather than bad learner data.
