Registration & Access

Learners can't open the registration link, can't get back into their course, or see an empty Learning History. Most of these resolve in a minute once you know the pattern.

How course access actually works (read this first)

Learners don't need a password to take a course. When someone registers, LecturePanda creates their profile and emails them an access link — that link is their way back in, returning them to exactly where they left off.

A password only comes into play for the optional Learning History page, where a learner can sign in at lecturepanda.com to see all their courses and certificates across organizations in one place.

Keeping this model in mind explains most of the issues below.

Some strict email systems — common in corporate, healthcare, and government environments — disable or strip links in automated emails. If a learner says the link is greyed out or nothing happens when they click:

  1. Resend it from your own address. In the course's Registrants list, click the @ button next to the learner's name. This sends the link from your email account instead of the LecturePanda system address, which usually bypasses the filter.
  2. Copy-paste as a fallback. The learner can copy the URL out of the email and paste it into the browser address bar.
  3. Or have the learner create an account. If they sign up at lecturepanda.com (Sign In → create an account) using the same email they registered with, every course they've registered for appears in their account — no email link needed.

The registration page "isn't working" for some people

Scattered, intermittent reports that a registration page won't load — while other people register fine — almost always trace to how the URL was entered, not to the page being down.

  • Ask for a screenshot first. The exact URL in the address bar and the exact error text usually identify the cause immediately.
  • Check for a missing https://. The classic pattern: the link was shared as www.lecturepanda.com/r/... without the https:// prefix. Chrome adds it automatically; Safari doesn't, and fails with "Safari Can't Open the Page." If it works in Chrome but fails in Safari, this is it. Share the full link — https://www.lecturepanda.com/r/... — with all registrants.
  • Rule out the email filter case above (links disabled in the email itself), typos in hand-typed URLs, and stale browser cache (try another browser or clear cookies).

Registration questions aren't showing on the page

If your questions are listed under Registration Questions in the admin panel, they're configured. When they don't appear on the registration page during testing, it's usually a stale cached page — refresh the registration page or open it in a new tab. If they still don't appear, verify the questions are attached to the right course and are active.

A learner thinks they lost their progress

A learner registered, came back later, "couldn't log in," registered again with a different email — and now believes their progress is gone.

Nothing was lost. Their original profile still exists; the re-registration simply created a second, brand-new profile. LecturePanda blocks duplicate registration under the same email (showing an "I'm already registered" message that routes back to the existing profile), but a different email creates a fresh start.

To fix: point the learner back at their original profile — resend their access email from the Registrants list (click the person icon on their row, then resend access), or have them find the original access email in their inbox. There's no need to merge or delete the extra profiles unless seat counts require it.

Learning History is empty

A learner signs in at lecturepanda.com and sees no courses — but their course opens fine from the registration email link.

Learning History only shows courses tied to a verified email address. The learner's account exists, but they never clicked the verification link, so the history page comes back empty. Meanwhile the course link still works, because taking a course doesn't require an account at all. That split — course link works, history empty — is the giveaway.

To fix: have the learner find the verification email from LecturePanda (checking spam/junk) and click the link. History fills in automatically once verified. If the email can't be found, contact support and we'll trigger a new one.

If history shows some courses but not older ones, the older courses were likely registered under a different email address — that address needs to be added to the account and verified.

Nudging learners who haven't finished

LecturePanda already sends automated reminder emails to learners who haven't completed a course — weekly, for up to 60 days, starting the day after a live event ends (or after registration, for on-demand courses). Each reminder contains that learner's personal link back into the course, plus an opt-out link. Reminders stop as soon as the learner finishes.

Don't point learners back at the registration link

If you send your own reminder, tell learners to use the link in the LecturePanda reminder emails they've already received. Sending them to the public registration URL starts a new registration instead of resuming their progress.
